In our office located in Greensboro, North Carolina we practice several different styles of Acupuncture including: TCM, Tan, Tung, Motor Point, Dry Needling, local & distal. The type of Acupuncture is chosen based on the condition being treated.
Acupuncture is a component of traditional East Asian medicine that originated in China over 5,000 years ago. It is based on the theory of two complementary forces, Yin & Yang. These forces are
interdependent and interconnected.
The idea that living beings have a vital energy, called qi that circulates through twelve energy lines known as meridians on the body. Each meridian is associated with a different organ system. An imbalance in the flow throughout a meridian or organ system is how disease begins. Where the circulations isn’t flowing there is pain.
Acupuncture helps to unblock any impeded flow and increase circulation, decrease inflammation, boosts the immune system to encourage the body's natural healing process and encourages the body’s own ability to achieve homeostasis. Acupuncture points "direct the traffic” to where it is needed.
How Acupuncture Works
- Stimulates the release of pain-relieving endorphins
- Influences the release of neurotransmitters, substances that transmit
nerve impulses to the brain
